Are scooters easy to drive?
Yes, they are easy to drive, however, so that you can have a one-of-a-kind experience on the island, we do not recommend renting one without having the necessary experience. If the driver's profile does not meet the safety conditions acceptable to Rent a Scooter Madeira, in this case, we are entitled to refuse the booking.
Can I book and pay for a scooter/motorbike even if I am not the one who will pick it up and drive it?
Yes, the booking can be done under a name other than the name of the driver.
How do bookings work?
You can book directly through our website, by email, social networks, or by telephone.
How do I know my booking is confirmed?
You will receive an automated email from our website with a summary of your booking and your order number. However, this doesn't mean your booking has been confirmed. It is only valid after confirmation from us.

I am delayed for the pick up of the scooter/motorcyle, how long is the reservation valid?
In case you warn us the reservation will be valid until you ask us. In case you don't warn us, 1h30 later the reservation will be automatically canceled.
Is a driver's license required?
Yes. For 50cc you need at least the AM driver's licence or higher. For 125cc, you need to meet the following requirements: have an A1 license or have a B license and 25 years or more. Above 125cc, you need to have an A license and be over the age of 21.
*For the 300cc scooter (Piaggio MP3 specifically), you need to have B license and 21 years or more or have A2/A license
Is it mandatory to wear a helmet?
Yes, the use of a helmet is always mandatory for both the driver and the passenger.
What are your opening hours?
Our opening hours are from 9: 00 a.m. to 7: 00 p.m., with lunch between 1: 00 p.m. and 3: 00 p.m.
What does the rental include?
The rental includes: civil liability insurance, third party insurance, and two jet helmets.
Payments and Returns
Can I rent a scooter/motorcycle after normal business hours?
No. Pickup and return of the scooter/motorcycle will have to be within business hours: 9am-1pm; 3pm-7pm.
Cancellation
Cancellation of your booking is free, however, if you have booked through an operator, you should consult their cancellation policy.
Deposits/Deductibles
We don't ask for a deposit.
Fuel policy
The customer must return the motorcycle/scooter with the same amount of fuel with which it was delivered.
How can I pay for the rental and what are the payment methods?
The payment can be in cash, credit card (we do not accept American Express), and debit card when signing the car rental agreement.
How does the delivery and return of the scooter/motorcycle work at my accommodation?
We deliver and pick up the scooter/motorcycle at your hotel, in the centre of Funchal, as requested at the time of the booking request, free of charge, and subject to availability.
We deliver and pick up the scooter/motorcycle at your hotel, outside of Funchal, as requested at the time of the booking request, for 35€ per way.
How does the pick up and return of the vehicle at Madeira Airport work?
Scooters/motorcycles are not delivered or collected directly at the airport. When selecting the delivery at the airport, a car transfer will be made from the airport to our store, where the rental contract will be signed. If you choose to return at the airport, then you will have to return the scooter/motorbike to our store and from there we will transfer you to the airport by car.
Insurance
There are two insurances available, Liability Insurance and Third Party Insurance
Supplemental Insurance
This is medical expense insurance for the driver. The cost is €3/day (optional).
Refunds
After the rental of the scooter/motorcycle, if you want to cancel rental days, it is possible, however, we do not refund the amount of the remaining days previously contracted.
What do I need to do in case I lose the keys or in the event of loss or theft?
You are to immediately contact our team by telephone (00351 936 716 627).
What documents do I need to present to pick up the scooter/motorcycle?
We need a form of ID (Citizen's Card or passport) and a driver's license.
During the Rental
Accidents
In case of an accident, you are to contact us immediately so that we can file the insurance claim. It will be necessary to submit the completed and compliant declaration of road accident, as well as photos of the accident and all possible data that can be collected, otherwise the company may refuse any liability.
Can I receive a copy of my invoice?
You can request a copy of the invoice at booking@rentascootermadeira.com indicating the booking, voucher, or contract number.
Complaints
If you are not satisfied with your scooter/motorcycle or with any equipment rented with our rent a scooter, please contact us, and we will change the scooter/motorcycle or equipment as soon as possible.
Fines
Fines/tickets must be paid at the time the scooter/motorcycle is returned.
